Silma Nature School
Silma Nature School is a non-governmental organization founded in 2009. It`s situated in the diverse natural environment of the Silma Nature Reserve in western Estonia. The reserve is an official Ramsar Sites, which demonstrates its status as a wetland of international importance.
Nature school is located by the sea and surrounded by coastal meadows and reed beds. The reserve is known as one of Estonia`s most important stopover sites for waterbirds, which is why we mainly introduce species and habitats related with wetlands.
Another important part of our work is introducing traditional agriculture and a sustainable way of life.
We are providing a wide-range of educational activities for schools and kindergartens. More than 3000 schoolchildren visit us in a year. We organoze exciting programmes where children are kept entertained and occupied throughout. In summer we organize environemntal cmaps for children interested in nature.
